COVID-19 and Training Safety

Outside Medicine's  COVID-19 safety precautions include:

  • Pre-course work online to reduce hours needed for in person training.

  • Everything outdoors....

  • Courses held in outdoor classroom setting (lanai or covered pavilion).

  • Outdoor practice simulations with face coverings.

  • Each student will be issued their own CPR “pocket mask” that will be used exclusively on the face of that individual when simulating CPR.

  • Crews that work together train together.

  • Emphasis on personal responsibility of participants: this includes non-attendance for any symptoms, using face coverings, practicing social distancing, limiting social interactions.

The above is meant to mitigate risk. It is impossible to eliminate all risk regarding COVID-19 transmission and an acceptance of some risk by students, the instructor, and organizations is necessary for a course to happen in these times.
